Spotlight: Lifeium hosts the Rt Hon the Lord Mayor of the City of London Corporation on a Virtual Visit to Glasgow
8th October 2020 by Kevin Karue
It has been a busy couple of weeks for Lifeium. From the onset of lockdown at the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, right through the core of it in May and June, we have come a long way and like many businesses, surviving through tough times is the name of the game.
In focus this week is a familiar topic: collaboration. I am a strong believer in the idea that collaboration breeds ideas and if you master and encourage the process in your law firm and business, you are bound to uncover some really exciting prospects to help fuel your start-up/business.
On 05 October 2020, Lifeium virtually hosted the Rt Hon the Lord Mayor of the City of London Corporation –Alderman William Russell– on his web trotting visit to Glasgow. The Lord Mayor is an international ambassador for the UK’s financial and professional services sector. Key on the agenda was the strengthening of ties between London and Glasgow.
The Lord Mayor had a wealth of valuable insights to share on ways in which we can grow our business. On the morning of the virtual visit, two of the more popular crowdfunding platforms -Seedrs and Crowdcube- would be merging to form one of the world’s largest private equity marketplace and further democratise investment. The UK is a global leader in the financial and professional services sector leading the way in using technology to innovate these sectors and others. The strengthening of ties between London and Glasgow will lead greater cooperation and collaboration.
The Rt Hon the Lord Mayor Alderman William Russell has been re-elected for a second consecutive term in office. He now ranks with only a handful of other Lord Mayor’s to achieve this admirable feat, the most notable Lord Mayor being Dick Whittington (Richard Whittington) who served three terms from 1397-1399.
